Dawn has worked with Dr. Nykiel for over 30 years, beginning as a co-op student in high school. She became a certified and licensed Dental Assistant, obtaining her credentials through Washtenaw Community College and the Dental Assisting National Board. In 2003, she transitioned into practice management and accounting, and now oversees the daily operation of the practice as well as providing patient care. Dawn’s priority is to build relationships and trust with our patients so they will feel comfortable during their visits and look forward to coming back! In her spare time, Dawn enjoys traveling, boating, motorcycling, snowmobiling, exercising and most importantly, spending time with family and friends.
Sherri attended dental hygiene school at the University of Michigan and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1990. She began practicing with Dr. Nykiel in 2006 but left in 2009 when she was given the opportunity to move to Germany for three years with her husband and two daughters. She has now returned and resumed her position as our dental hygienist, and we are grateful to have her back! While in Europe she was able to travel extensively, learn German and enjoy different cultures while meeting new friends from around the world. Sherri is passionate about all areas of dentistry and loves to further her knowledge through continuing education. The part of the job she enjoys most is getting to know her patients and helping them to improve their oral health. Outside of the office she enjoys baking, Michigan football games, travel, jazz, wine and adding to her ever-expanding shoe collection.
Rachael is the newest member of our team, and we are lucky to have her! She graduated from the University of Detroit Mercy in 2004 with her Bachelor of Science and certificate of Dental Hygiene. She strives to stay up to date with the latest research pertaining to periodontal disease, treatment, and its link to overall health. “My goal with every patient is to provide them with the highest quality care in a comfortable and friendly environment. The most rewarding part of my job is giving patients a healthy and beautiful smile.” A few of her favorite things are family, volunteering, sports, and cooking.

She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, vacationing and just being together. Andrea also has a love for animals and volunteers at the Brownstown Animal Shelter a few times a week.

After graduating high school, she entered the Wayne County Community College Dental Assisting Program, where she earned her certification and licensure for dental assisting. Nicole is very passionate about dentistry. By having an upbeat personality, compassion and kindness, Nicole provides a positive and calming experience for our patients. Having been anxious and fearful herself, Nicole has made it a goal to make our patients feel at ease and comfortable in the dental chair. Nicole grew up Downriver, spending most of her time with her grandparents. In her free time she enjoys bike riding, crafts, cooking, and gardening. She also has a cat named Princess Peach and a dog named Zelda, whom she loves to pamper and spoil!
Chrissy is one of the first faces you’ll see at your visit. She will get you checked in, review your treatment plan with you, and schedule your subsequent appointments. Most importantly, her understanding of dental insurance allows our patients to fully utilize their benefits. Chrissy grew up in Dearborn and has been working in the dental field since she was 19 years old. When she’s not working, you’ll most likely find Chrissy cheering her son on at the hockey rink or tailgating at a U of M football game.
Rachel worked here in the past as our receptionist and assistant, and now she fills in for us when a staff member is ill or goes on vacation. She started in the dental field in 2001 as a high school co-op student. Realizing that she really enjoyed dentistry, she continued her studies and became a full time Dental Assistant. After 14 years of chairside assisting, Rachel decided she wanted to expand her dental knowledge and experience even further. and moved to the administrative side of dentistry. Her mild manor, compassion and kindness always make our patients feel welcome and comfortable at our office. When she’s not busy taking care of her three children, Rachel enjoys bike riding, traveling and spending as much time as possible with her family and friends.
